It’s a pretty accurate representation of people in the world. You can see almost every street and major city. Maybe I’m reading too much into it but I think it’s beautiful in that it kind of mirrors the stars in the sky. I think most people think of themselves as stars, believing and behaving as if the world revolves around them. When you look at it that way, these maps of all these tiny dots screaming for attention, in conjunction with http://tweetingtoohard.com they shed an interesting way of judging people. The internet let’s us broadcast our thoughts, feelings, and self centeredness. If ego is a large motivation for tweeting do these maps show the type of mentality people have in certain regions?
As a side note, it seems people love taking pictures of/by the water… haven’t made any earth shattering conclusions about the human psyche from that but I’m sure there’s something in there… There’s something about bodies of water that pictures can express better than words. What is it that compels people to immortalize their water memories? Maybe it’s that water makes you stop and reflect, enjoy the moment, and think. “You can’t go any further. You’ve reached your destination. Where are you in life? Where am I going from here?” Or maybe it’s simpler than that, I’m not sure.
